Staying Young and Healthy: Tips from a Busy Mom and Boxing Gym Owner

Balancing life as a mother of two, running a boxing gym, and working in business for nearly two decades has taught me a lot about what it really takes to stay healthy. For me, it has never just been about looking a certain way. It is about feeling strong, staying energized, and being able to show up fully for the people and responsibilities I care about. Here are a few things that have made a meaningful difference in my own journey.

Staying Active

Movement is a big part of my life. Being around boxing and fitness every day definitely helps, but even outside the gym, I try to stay consistent with a mix of cardio, strength training, flexibility, and mobility work. Staying active helps me manage stress, feel more focused, and keep my energy up. These are things I rely on to handle the many roles I play both at work and at home.

Eating Well

Food is fuel, and I have found that eating a mostly plant-based diet helps me feel my best. I aim to focus on fresh, whole foods as often as possible. This includes fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and lean protein. I try to limit processed snacks, sugary drinks, and anything that makes me feel sluggish. It is not about being strict. It is about being intentional. When I eat in a way that supports my body, I notice improvements in my energy, my skin, and my focus.

Prioritizing Sleep

Sleep used to be the first thing I gave up when life got busy, but over time, I have learned that rest is essential. I have made a few small changes, like winding down earlier, keeping screens out of the bedroom, and sticking to a regular bedtime. These habits have helped me sleep better and wake up with more clarity, better mood, and stronger immunity. It is one of the simplest things I do, but also one of the most important.

Simple Skincare and Sun Time

I spend time outside every day to get some sun and natural vitamin D, and I use sunscreen to protect my skin. I keep my skincare routine simple. I do not wear makeup most days, and I give my skin space to breathe. I also enjoy treatments like facial acupuncture, which has helped with skin tone and texture. For me, skincare is more about feeling fresh than trying to look flawless.

Staying Mentally Strong

Mindset plays a huge role in how I move through life. Working in male-dominated spaces has not always been easy, but I have learned to stay grounded by focusing on what I can control. I set goals, remind myself of my strengths, and stay connected to people who lift me up. Choosing a supportive, positive environment has helped me stay resilient and keep a clear, calm outlook.

These habits are not about perfection. They are simple choices that help me feel good and stay steady, even when life gets hectic. If any of this resonates with you, I hope it encourages you to explore your own version of balance and well-being, in whatever season you are in.
